(29/46) And do not struggle in any other way but the best with the people of the Book except amongst them who torment, and say: “We believe in that which has been sent down to us and sent down to you and our God and your God is One and to Him do we submit”. (29/47) And thus have We sent down the Book to you. So those whom We have given the Book believe in it, and of these there are those who believe in it (in the Qur’an), and none deny knowingly Our Verses except the disbelievers. (29/48) And you did not read before it any book. And you are not transcribing it with your hand either. If that was the case, the talkers of vanities would certainly have doubted. (29/49) Nay! It (the Qur’an) is the Verses that are explained in the bosoms of those who have been given knowledge. And they do not knowingly deny Our Verses except the wrong-doers. (29/50) And they said: “Should not the Verses (miracles) have been sent down upon him from his Lord”? Say: “The Verses (miracles) are only in the Presence of Allah, and I am only a clear warner”. (29/51) Is it not enough for them that how We have sent down to you the Book which is recited (read and explained) to them? Most surely there is indeed Mercy in this and a reminder (remembrance, Dhikr) for a people who believe. (29/52) Say: “Allah is Sufficient as a Witness between me and you. He knows what is in the heavens and the earth”. Those who believe in the falsehood and disbelieve in Allah, these it is that are in loss. (29/53) And they ask you to hasten on the torment. If a term had not been appointed, the torment would certainly have come to them (right away) and most surely it will come to them all of a sudden while they do not perceive. (29/54) They ask you to hasten on the torment. Most surely Hell encompasses the disbelievers. (29/55) On that Day the torment shall cover them completely from above them and from underneath their feet. And (Allah) shall say: “Taste (the punishment of) what you used to do”. (29/56) O My believing (Amenu, who wish to reach Allah while they are living) servants, surely My earth is vast. Therefore become servants to Me Alone! (29/57) Every soul shall taste the death, then to Us you shall be brought back. (29/58) And they believed (became Amenu, wished to reach Allah before death) and did improving deeds (did the soul’s cleansing). We will certainly house them in lofty dwellings of heaven, underneath which the rivers flow, abiding therein forever. How excellent is the reward of those who do ameliorating deeds (deeds that improve the soul)! (29/59) Those who are the owners of patience and in their Lord do they put their trust. (29/60) And how many of animals that do not carry its sustenance. Allah sustains them and you too. And He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. (29/61) And if you ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth and made the sun and the moon subservient”, they certainly say: “Allah”. So, how are they turned away (from the truth to the falsehood)? (29/62) Allah enlarges the provision for whom He wills of His servants, and straitens it for those. Verily, Allah is the All-Knowing of everything. (29/63) And if you ask them: “Who is it that sends down water from the sky, then gives life to the earth with it after its death?” they certainly say: “Allah”. Say: “All praise is due to Allah”. Nay, most of them do not use their mind. (29/64) And this life of the world is only an amusement and a play. Verily the Home of the Hereafter, that most surely is the life indeed, if they but knew. (29/65) When they embark on a ship, they call upon Allah, making their religion pure for Him only. But when We bring them safely to the land, behold, they immediately associate others (with Allah)! (29/66) For them to become ungrateful for (disbelieve in) what We have given them, and that they may benefit. But soon they will know. (29/67) Did they not see that We have made it (Mecca) a sacred territory secure (from violence), when men around it and their belongings were being snatched away (by force)? Do they still believe in the falsehood and deny the Blessing of Allah? (29/68) And who does more wrong than one who forges a lie against Allah, or gives the lie to (denies) the truth when it has come to him? Is Hell not a Dwelling place for the disbelievers? (29/69) And those who strive hard in Us (against their souls and Allah’s enemies), We will most certainly guide them to Our Ways (Sirat-i Mustakim) and Allah is most surely with the Al-Muhsinun (good doers).

Ar-Rum
(30/1) Alif, Lȃm, Mim. (30/2) The Romans have been defeated. (30/3) After being vanquished, they shall be victorious in a nearby place. (30/4) Within a few (three to nine) years. Allah’s is the Command before and after this. On that day the believers will rejoice. (30/5) With the Help of Allah, He helps whom He wills and He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful (the One Who manifests Himself with His Name of the Most Merciful). (30/6) (This is) the Promise of Allah! Allah does not fail in His Promise, but most of mankind do not know. (30/7) They know the outward of the life of the world, and they are heedless of the Hereafter. (30/8) Do they not reflect (reckon) in regards to their own souls? Allah created the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but with the truth and for an appointed term. And truly most of the people are deniers of the reaching with their Lord (they indeed disbelieve in having their spirits reach Allah while they are alive). (30/9) Do they not travel in the earth and see how the end of those before them was? They were stronger than those in prowess, and they had dug the earth and built upon it more than those have built. Their Messengers had come to them with the clear arguments. Allah was not wronging them, but they were wronging their own souls. (30/10) Then terrible was the end of those who did evil, because they denied (belied) the Verses of Allah and used to mock them. (30/11) Allah originates the creation, then brings it back (puts it back to its origin). Then to Him you shall be returned. (30/12) And on the (Dooms) Day when the Hour is established, the guilty shall be in despair. (30/13) And there will be no intercessors for them of those whom they have associated (with Allah) and they shall be deniers of their associates (on that day). (30/14) And on the Day when the Hour is established (the Doomsday), at that time of permission, they shall divide into groups. (30/15) But those who believe (who are Amenu, who wished to reach Allah while they were living) and did improving deeds (did the soul’s cleansing), they shall be delightful and happy in a Gardens (with blessings). (30/16) And as to those who disbelieved and belied (rejected) Our Verses and the meeting of the hereafter (denied having their spirits reach Allah while they are living), these shall be made to be ready in the Torment. (30/17) So glorify Allah in the evening and in the morning time. (30/18) And to Him belongs all praise in the heavens and the earth. At late noon and at midday (glorify Him)! (30/19) He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living. And gives life to the earth after its death, and thus shall you be brought forth (from the earth, just like that). (30/20) And from His Signs (miracles) that He created you from dust. Then when you become a (human) being, you scatter (on earth as you multiply). (30/21) And as of His Signs, He created mates for you from your souls that you may find rest in them. And He put between you love and mercy (compassion). Most surely there are Signs (proofs) in this for a people who reflect (reckon). (30/22) And it from His Signs that He had created the heavens and the earth and your tongues and colors are different. Most surely there are Signs (proofs) in this for the scholars. (30/23) And it from His Signs that you sleep at night and seek His Virtue by day. Most surely there are Signs (proofs) in this for a people who hear. (30/24) And it from His Signs that He shows you the lightning for fear and for hope. And sends down water from the sky, hence gives life therewith to the earth after its death. Most surely there are Signs (proofs) in this for a people who use their mind. (30/25) And it is from His Signs that the heaven and the earth stand (in balance) by His Command. Then when He calls you with a single call, you will come out from the earth (from your graves). (30/26) And His is whosoever is in the heavens and the earth. All are Qanitin (stand in admiration) to Him. (30/27) And He it is Who originates the creation, then causes it to return again (brings it back to its original form) and this very is easy for Him. His is the Attribute of Sublimity in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise (the Owner of Wisdom and Judgment). (30/28) (Allah) set forth for you an example from your own souls. Have you among those whom your right hands possess (among your slaves) partners in what We have given you for sustenance (like this, those idols can be partners to Allah), so that with respect to it you are equal and you respect them as you respect each other? Thus do We explain the Verses in detail to a people who are mindful. (30/29) Nay! The tyrants followed their low desires without any knowledge. So who can guide those whom Allah leaves in Misguidance? And for such there are no helpers. (30/30) Then set yourself (your physical body) for the Religion as a Hanif, the nature made by Allah in which He has made all mankind. There is no altering in Allah’s creation that is the lasting Religion (that will last from the Pre-Eternity till the Post-Eternity), but most people do not know. (30/31) Turn to Him (wish to reach Allah while you are living) and become the owners of piety. And keep up the Prayer and (thus) be not of the associators (Al-Musriqun). (30/32) (Of those associators) who are divided in their Religion and became sects (fractions), every fraction rejoicing in what is with it. (30/33) And when a calamity touches mankind, they call upon their Lord, turning to Him. Then when He makes them taste Mercy from Him (when He causes them to reach Hidayet with His Name of the Most Merciful), some of them begin to associate (other things) with their Lord (they fall into Misguidance while they were in Hidayet). (30/34) Let them deny what We have given them, so enjoy yourselves (benefit themselves). They will soon come to know. (30/35) Or, have We sent down upon them an authority (a proof, a Book) so that it (the Book) speaks to them to associate with Him (Allah)? (30/36) And when We make people taste Mercy, they rejoice (they get spoiled) in it and if an evil befalls them for what their hands have sent forth, they are in despair! (30/37) Did they not see that Allah enlarges the provision for whom He wills and restricts (it for whom He wills)? Most surely there are Signs in this for a people who believe. (30/38) Therefore give to the near of kin and to the needy and to the wayfarer their righteous due. This is better for those who yearn for Allah s Face (who wish to reach Allah) and these it is who reach Salvation. (30/39) And whatever you lay out as usury in order that it may increase on people’s property (Dhikr you do without wishing to reach Allah while you are living), it shall not increase in the Presence of Allah (it does not bring the glorious lights in to your souls hearts and does not increase them). Whatever you give in Zakat (Dhikir you do) seeking Allah’s Face (seeking to reach Allah), it is these that shall get manifold (increase the glorious lights in the souls’ hearts). (30/40) Allah is He Who created you, then gave you sustenance (He gave you sustenance in the world’s life and filled your souls’ hearts with glorious lights). Then He will cause you to die, then bring you to life. Is there any of your associates (idols) who does anything of it? Glory be to Him, and exalted be He above what they associate (with Him). (30/41) Mischief has appeared in the land and the sea because of what the hands of the mankind have earned, that He may make them taste a part of that which they have done, so that they may return (turn to Allah) (30/42) Say: “Travel in the earth and see what was the end of those before. Most of them were associators”. (30/43) So set your face (your physical body) for the everlasting Religion (that will continue from the Pre-Eternity till the Post-Eternity), before there comes a Day which Allah will not make him return on that Day (the Doomsday). They shall be separated in groups on the Day of Permission. (30/44) Whoever disbelieves, his disbelief is against him, and whoever does improving deeds (does the soul’s purification), they make so preparations for their own souls. (30/45) That He may reward those who believe (who are Amenu, who wish to reach Allah before death) and do improving deeds (purify their soul’s hearts) out of His Virtue. Surely He does not love the disbelievers. (30/46) And it is from His Signs that He sends forth the winds bearing good tidings, and He makes you taste of His Mercy, and makes the ships sail at His Command, and that you seek from His Grace, and that you may be grateful. (30/47) And certainly We sent before you Messengers to their nation, so they came to them with the clear arguments (proofs). Then We took vengeance on those who were guilty. Helping the believers has become a right (duty) on Us. (30/48) Allah is He Who sends forth the winds, so moves the clouds. Then He spreads it forth in the sky as He wills and He breaks it up then you see the rain coming forth from amongst them. Then when He causes it (the rain) to touch upon whom He wills of His servants, behold, they enjoy. (30/49) And they were before this, before it (rain) was sent down upon them, confounded in sure despair. (30/50) Look then at the arts of Allah s Mercy. How He gives life to the earth after its death? Most surely He is the One who raises the dead and He has Power over all things. (30/51) And if We send a wind and they see it (their crop) turn yellow, they would after that certainly continue to disbelieve. (30/52) So, surely, you cannot make the dead to hear, you cannot make the deaf to hear the invitation when they turn back and flee. (30/53) And you are not to make the blind reach Hidayet, saving them from their Misguidance. You make to hear only those who believe in Our Verses. They are the ones who are surrendered (they are Muslims). (30/54) Allah is He Who created you from a weak thing, then He gave you strength after weakness, then made you weak and old after strength. He creates what He wills, and He is the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful. (30/55) And on that Day when the Hour (the Doomsday) is established, the guilty swear (that) they did not stay but an hour. This is how they were reversed (from death to life). (30/56) And those who are given knowledge and Faith said: “You stayed (in the graves) till the Day of Resurrection (found) in the Book of Allah”. This is the Day of Resurrection, but you did not know. (30/57) Then on that Day (of Permission) their excuses shall not profit those who did wrong and they will not be asked to convince (Allah). (30/58) And certainly We have set forth for mankind every kind of examples in this Qur’an and if you should bring them a Verse (Sign), those who disbelieve certainly say: “You are only those who occupy themselves with falsehood”. (30/59) Thus does Allah set a lasting seal on the hearts of those who do not know. (30/60) Therefore remain patient, surely the Promise of Allah is true, and let not those who have no certainty (knowledge) drag you into flightiness.

Luqman
(31/1) Alif-Lam-Mim. (31/2) These are the Verses of the Book that is All-Wise (full of Wisdom and Judgment). (31/3) (Renderer to) Hidayet and a Mercy for the good-doers (Al-Muhsinun). (31/4) Those who keep up the Prayer and pay Alms (Zakat) and they have faith in the Hereafter (reaching Allah before death) with certainty. (31/5) These are on a Hidayet from their Lord, and these are they who are in Salvation. (31/6) And some of those who purchase frivolous discourse to lead astray from the Way of Allah without knowledge and they take it for a mockery. For such there is a humiliating torment. (31/7) And when Our Verses are recited to him, he turns back in pride as if he had not heard them, as though in his ears were heaviness (hearing obstacle). Therefore give him tidings (warning) of a painful torment. (31/8) As for those who believe (are Amenû, who wish to reach Allah while they are living) and do improving deeds (do the soul’s purification), for them are heavens of Naim. (31/9) (They are the ones) to abide in there forever. The Promise of Allah is true and He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise (the Owner of Wisdom and Judgment). (31/10) He created the skies without pillars as you see them and has cast in the earth firm mountains lest it might shake you. He spread in it walking creatures of every kind. And We sent down water from the sky, hence caused to grow therein of every noble (gifted) pair of plants. (31/11) This is Allah’s creation. So show Me what those besides Him have created. Nay, the wrong-doers (Az-Zalimûn) are in manifest Misguidance. (31/12) And certainly We gave wisdom to Luqman for him to be grateful to Allah. And whoever is grateful, he is only grateful for his own soul and whoever is ungrateful (disbelieves, denies), then Allah is All-Sufficient (does not need anyone’s gratefulness), All-Praised (Praiseworthy). (31/13) And Luqman said to his son while he admonished him: “O my son! Do not associate anything with Allah! Most surely ascribing partners (to Allah) is a tremendous torment. (31/14) And We have enjoined on human (to be dutiful and kind) to their parents. His mother bore him in difficulty upon difficulty and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to both your parents! The return is to Me. (31/15) And if they strive with you that you should associate with Me that of which You have no knowledge, do not obey neither of them! And deal with them in this world kindly. Follow the Way of those who turned to Me (who wished to have their spirits reach Me), then to Me is your return. Then will I inform you of what you used to do. (31/16) O my child! Surely if it (your deed) is the very weight of the grain of a mustard-seed, even though it is in a rock, or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it (before you in your life film on the Day of Resurrection). Surely Allah is Subtle (Owner of subtleties), All-Aware. (31/17) O my child, keep up the Prayer! Enjoin Al-Ma rûf (command with religious knowledge and goodness) and forbid from Al-Munkar (denial, all that Allah has forbidden and evil) and bear with patience whatever befalls you. Surely these are of the affairs to be dedicated (fulfilled) upon. (31/18) And do not turn your face away from people (in pride) nor go about in the land exulting over much. Surely Allah does not love any self-conceited boaster. (31/19) Be modest in your walking and lower your voice. Surely the ugliest of all voices is the braying of the donkey. (31/20) Did you not see that Allah has made what is in the heavens and what is in the earth subservient to you? And completed His visible and invisible (outwardly and inwardly) blessings upon you? Yet of mankind are those who dispute concerning Allah without knowledge or someone who made them reach Hidayet, or an enlightening Book. (31/21) And when it is said to them: “Follow what (the Book) Allah has sent down”, they say: “Nay, we follow that (the idols) on which we found our fathers”. What! Though Satan calls them to the torment of the burning fire (Hell)? (31/22) And whoever surrenders his face (his physical body) to Allah as a Muhsin (a good-doer), then he verily grasped the firmest hand-hold and the end of the affairs is to Allah (reaches Allah). (31/23) And whoever disbelieves let not his disbelief grieve you! Their return is to Us, then will We inform them (their deeds) of what they did. Surely Allah is All-Knowing of what is in the bosoms. (31/24) We give them subsistence a little, then We expose them to a heavy torment. (31/25) And if you ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they certainly say: “Allah”. Say: “All praise is due to Allah”. Nay! Most of them do not know. (31/26) What is in the heavens and the earth is Allah’s. Surely Allah, He is Self-Sufficient (All-Rich, Free of all needs), the All-Praised. (31/27) And if all the trees on the earth were pens and the sea (were ink), with seven more seas to help it, the Words of Allah would not be exhausted. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (31/28) Your creation and your raising (resurrection) are anything but creation of a single soul. Surely Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing. (31/29) Did you not see that Allah causes the night to pass into the day and causes the day to pass into the night? (Allah) has subjected the sun and the moon (to His command). Each pursues its course (orbit) till an appointed term. Surely Allah is All-Informed of what you do. (31/30) This is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they worship besides Him is the falsehood. Certainly Allah, He is the Most Exalted, the Greatest. (31/31) Did you not see that the ships sail through the sea by Allah’s Blessing? Just to show you of His Signs. Most surely there are Signs in this for every patiently endured, grateful one. (31/32) And when the waves overwhelm them like dark shadows, they call upon Allah, making their religion pure for Him only. Then when We bring them safe to the land, then some of them follow the middle course (don’t go extravagant). None denies knowingly Our Verses but every very perfidious, very ungrateful one. (31/33) O mankind! Have piety towards your Lord and dread the Day when a father will not be able to answer (help) his son nor will the son be able to answer his father. Surely the Promise of Allah is the truth, therefore let not the life of the world deceive you, nor let the Garûr (Lucifer) deceive you with Allah. (31/34) Surely in Allah’s Presence is the knowledge of the Hour (of the Day of Resurrection) and He sends down the rain and He knows what is in the wombs. No one knows what they will earn tomorrow and no one knows in what land they will die. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.

As-Sajdah
(32/1) Alif-Lam-Mim. (32/2) The sending down of the Book in which there is no doubt is from the Lord of the Worlds. (32/3) Or do they say: “He has forged it”? Nay! It is the truth from your Lord that you may warn a people to whom no warner (prophet) has come before you. It is hoped that they may reach Hidayet. (32/4) Allah it is, He Who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in Six Days. Then He rose over the Arsh (beyond existence). There is for you besides Him any friend or an intercessor. Will you still not then deliberate? (32/5) He regulates the Orders (all that come from Allah and return to Allah) from the heaven to the earth. Then it ascends to Him in a day the measure of it (that one day) is a thousand years of what you count (according to your measurements in the world). (32/6) That is the All-Knower of the Unseen and the Seen, the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful (the One Who manifests Himself with His Name of the Most Merciful). (32/7) Who made everything He has created the most beautiful and He began the creation of human from clay. (32/8) Then He made his progeny of an extract of despised water (of semen). (32/9) Then He designed him and breathed into him (into his physical body) of His Spirit, and gave you (sense of) hearing and (sense of) seeing and (sense of) comprehension. Little is the thanks you give! (32/10) And they said: “When we have become lost in the earth, shall we then certainly be in a new creation”? Nay! They are the disbelievers in the Meeting with their Lord (in reaching their Lord while they are living). (32/11) Say: “The angel of death, who is given charge of you shall cause you to die, then to your Lord you shall be brought back”. (32/12) And if you only could see when the guilty hang down their heads before their Lord (and say): “Our Lord! We have seen and we have heard, therefore send us back (to the world), let us do improving deeds. Surely We became the ones who believe with certainty (We have been certain of the truth). (32/13) And if We had willed, We would certainly have given to every soul its Hidayet (We would certainly have caused every soul to have Hidayet). But the Word from Me has been justified (indicating): “I will certainly fill Hell with the jinn and the mankind”. (32/14) So taste (the torment of the Fire) because you forgot the meeting of this (reaching Allah) Day of yours. Surely We (too) forgot you. So taste the abiding torment for what you used to do. (32/15) But those believe (Amenu) in Our Verses who, when they are reminded of them (Verses), fall down prostrate, and glorify their Lord with praise and they are not arrogant. (32/16) They draw away their sides from (their) beds, they call upon their Lord in fear and in hope, and they give out of what We have given them as sustenance. (32/17) So no soul (no one) knows what is hidden for them of that which will refresh the eyes, as a reward for what they used to do. (32/18) Is he then who is a believer like him who is a transgressor? They are not equal. (32/19) But for those who believe (who wish to reach Allah while they are living) and do improving deeds (do the soul’s cleansing), for them are heavens of Meva as offering for what they used to do. (32/20) And as for those who transgress (who deviate from the right Way of Allah), their dwelling (shelter) is the Fire. Whenever they desire to go forth from it, they are brought (returned) back into it, and it is said to them: “Taste the torment of the Fire which you used to deny (belie)”. (32/21) And most certainly We will make them taste of the nearer torment before the greater torment. It is hoped that haply they may turn (to Allah by wishing to reach Him). (32/22) And who can be more wrong-doing than he who is reminded of the Verses of his Lord, then he turns away from them? Surely We are the Ones who shall take vengeance from the guilty. (32/23) And certainly We gave a Book to Moses. After that be not in doubt about meeting with Him (about having your spirit reach Allah while you are living) and We made it (the Torah) a guide of Hidayet (that which makes men reach Allah) for the Children of Israel. (32/24) And We made of them Imams (religious leaders) who make (mankind) attain to Hidayet by Our Command when they were the owners of Patience and believed with certainty (at the level of the true Certainty). (32/25) Surely your Lord will distinguish (judge) between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they used to differ. (32/26) Did not He deliver them to Hidayet? How many of the generations We have destroyed before them. They have been walking about in their dwellings (they used to be). Most surely there are Signs (lessons) in this will they not then hear? (32/27) Have they not seen how We drive water to the dry land? Then We bring forth thereby crops, from that their cattle and they eat. Will they not then see? (32/28) And they say: “When is the conquest, if you are truthful”? (32/29) Say: “On the Day of conquest the faith of those who disbelieve (who did not wish to reach Allah) will not profit them, nor will they be given time”. (32/30) Therefore turn away from them and wait. Surly they too are awaiting.

Al-Ahzab
(33/1) O Prophet! Be the owner of piety towards Allah and do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites! Surely Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise (the Owner of Wisdom and Judgment). (33/2) And follow what is revealed to you from your Lord. Surely Allah is All-Aware of what you do. (33/3) And put your trust in Allah and Allah is Sufficient as a Surrogate. (33/4) Allah has not made (created) for a man two hearts in his chest nor has He made your wives whose backs you liken to the backs of your mothers as your mothers (claiming this in order to divorce them), nor has He made your adopted sons Your real sons. These are but the statements in your mouths. And Allah speaks the truth, and He guides to the Way (leading to Himself). (33/5) Call them (your adopted children) by the names of their fathers. This is more just in the Presence of Allah. If you do not know their fathers, then they are your brethren in faith and your friends. And there is no blame on you concerning that in which you made a mistake, but (there is blame concerning) that which your hearts have you do intentionally, and Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving (the One Who changes evil deeds into merits), the Most Merciful (the One Who manifests Himself with His Name of Most Merciful). (33/6) The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own souls and his wives are their mothers, and the owners of kinship (relatives) are closer one to other in the Book of Allah than believers and the Emigrants. Except that you do good to your friends. These are written in the Book, line by line. (33/7) And We had taken from the Prophets their Covenants. And from you, and from Noah and Abraham and Moses and Jesus, son of Mary, We took from them a strong covenant. (33/8) That He may question the loyal of their loyalty and He has prepared for the disbelievers a painful torment. (33/9) O you who believe (who wish to reach Allah before death)! Remember Allah’s Blessing upon you. There had come down upon you armies. Then We sent against them a strong wind and armies that you could not see, and Allah is Ever All-Seeing of what you do. (33/10) When they came upon you from above and from below you, and when the eyes turned dull and the hearts rose up to the throats, you were harboring doubts about Allah. (33/11) There, the believers were tried and shaken with a mighty shaking. (33/12) And the disbelievers and those in whose hearts was a disease (doubt) were saying: “Allah and His Messenger did not promise us anything but pride (deception)”. (33/13) And a party of them said: “O people of Yathrib (Al-Madinah)! There is no place to stand for you (here), therefore turn back”! And (another) party of them was asking permission of the Prophet, saying: “Surely our houses are without protection”. And they were not without protection but they were just wishing to flee (from the battle). (33/14) And upon them, if an entry were made from every part of it (the city), and they had then been asked (to cause) Al-Fitnah (mischief), they would absolutely have come to it (to cause mischief) and they would not have stayed there but a little. (33/15) And certainly they had made a covenant with Allah before not to turn their backs and flee. And a covenant with Allah is a responsibility. (33/16) Say: “Fleeing will not avail you if you flee from death or being killed. Then you will not be allowed to enjoy yourselves but a little while”. (33/17) Say: “Who can protect you from Allah if He wishes harm for you, or wishes mercy for you”? They can not find any friend or helper other than Allah. (33/18) Allah certainly knew those among you who hindered (the help to the Prophet) and those who said to their brethren: “Come to us”. And they do not come to the battle but a little. (33/19) They are stingy towards you. But when fear comes, then you see them looking at you, their eyes rolling like one fainting because of death. They smite you with sharp tongues (with harsh words). They are not the believers. Therefore Allah has made their deeds vain (null, fruitless) and this was ever easy to Allah. (33/20) They (disbelievers) think that the (enemy) armies are not gone and if the armies should come, they would wish that they were with the Arabs (leaking in) asking for news about you, and if they were among you, they would not fight but a little. (33/21) Certainly you have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent exemplar for him who hopes to reach Allah and the Last Day (the day of reaching Allah before death) and remember (repeat the Name of) Allah much. (33/22) And when the believers saw the (enemy) armies, they said: “This (victory) is what Allah and His Messenger promised. Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth”. And this only increased them in Faith and Submission. (33/23) Of the believers are men who were true to the covenant which they made with Allah (to remain loyal to their promise given to Allah that they would remain patient until they would become martyrs). So some of them accomplished their covenant (died a martyr), and some of them are waiting (being a martyr) and they have not changed (anything from their covenants) in the least. (33/24) That Allah may reward the loyal for their loyalty, and torment the disbelievers or accept their repentance if He wills. Surely Allah is Oft-Forgiving (the One who changes evil deeds into merits), the Most Merciful (the one Who manifests Himself with His Name of Most Merciful). (33/25) And Allah turned back the disbelievers in their rage, they could not obtain any good (they could not become victorious) and Allah sufficed the believers in the war (by making them victorious). And Allah is Ever All-Strong, All-Mighty. (33/26) And He drove down those of the People of the Book who backed them from their fortresses and He cast terror into their hearts. A group (of them) you were killing and a group (of them) you were taking captives. (33/27) And He made you heirs to their soil and their country, their property, and land which you have not yet stepped on and Allah has Power over all things. (33/28) O prophet! Say to your wives: “If you desire the life of this world and its adornment, then come, I will give you a provision (I will give you your Mahr) and divorce you in a handsome manner”. (33/29) And if you desire Allah and His Messenger and the Abode of the Hereafter, then surely Allah has prepared for the good-doing women among you a Mighty Reward (an Immense Wage). (33/30) O wives of the Prophet! Whoever of you comes with an open indecency, the torment shall be increased for her in double. And this is ever easy for Allah.
