وَمَا مَنَعَنَا أَن نُّرْسِلَ بِالآيَاتِ إِلاَّ أَن كَذَّبَ بِهَا الأَوَّلُونَ وَآتَيْنَا ثَمُودَ النَّاقَةَ مُبْصِرَةً فَظَلَمُواْ بِهَا وَمَا نُرْسِلُ بِالآيَاتِ إِلاَّ تَخْوِيفًا

سورة الإسراء
(17/59) What hinders Us from sending a Verse (miracle) is only for the former ones to deny them (miracles). We gave to Thamûd nation the she-camel as a visible (miracle) but they did her wrong. And We do not send the Verses (miracles) but to scare.
