ثُمَّ قَفَّيْنَا عَلَى آثَارِهِم بِرُسُلِنَا وَقَفَّيْنَا بِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْإِنجِيلَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ رَأْفَةً وَرَحْمَةً وَرَهْبَانِيَّةً ابْتَدَعُوهَا مَا كَتَبْنَاهَا عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَّا ابْتِغَاء رِضْوَانِ اللَّهِ فَمَا رَعَوْهَا حَقَّ رِعَايَتِهَا فَآتَيْنَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْهُمْ أَجْرَهُمْ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾
سورة الحـديد
(57/27) Then We sent Our Messengers in succession upon their foot- steps. And We sent Jesus, son of Mary and gave him the Bible. And We put in the hearts of those who depended on him compassion and mercy. And they associated him with priesthood. We did not prescribe to them but seeking Allah’s Pleasure. Yet they did not obey it with its due right. So We gave to those of them who believed (who were âmenû, who wished to reach Allah before death) their reward, and most of them were Fâsiqûn (transgressors).
