فَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَقَالُوا مَنْ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةً أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ الَّذِي خَلَقَهُمْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً وَكَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ

سورة فصّلت
(41/15) But the people of Âd became arrogant without a right in the land, and they said: “Who is mightier in strength than we”? Did they not see that Allah Who created them is mightier than they are, in strength? And they were denying our Verses knowingly, stubbornly.
