مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ أَن يَسْتَغْفِرُواْ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَوْ كَانُواْ أُوْلِي قُرْبَى مِن بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْجَحِيمِ

(9/113) It is not (proper) for a Prophet and those who believe (who are âmenû) to ask for forgiveness for the associators even though they should be near relatives after it has become clear to them that they are inmates of the flaming Fire.
