وَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ عَتَتْ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهَا وَرُسُلِهِ فَحَاسَبْنَاهَا حِسَابًا شَدِيدًا وَعَذَّبْنَاهَا عَذَابًا نُّكْرًا

سورة الـطلاق
(65/8) And many countries rebelled against the Commandment of their Lord and His Messengers (they crossed the line). Therefore We questioned them with a severe questioning and tormented them with a dire torment.
