وَإِذَا جَاءهُمْ أَمْرٌ مِّنَ الأَمْنِ أَوِ الْخَوْفِ أَذَاعُواْ بِهِ وَلَوْ رَدُّوهُ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ وَإِلَى أُوْلِي الأَمْرِ مِنْهُمْ لَعَلِمَهُ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَنبِطُونَهُ مِنْهُمْ وَلَوْلاَ فَضْلُ اللّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ لاَتَّبَعْتُمُ الشَّيْطَانَ إِلاَّ قَلِيلاً ﴿٨٣﴾
سورة النساء
(4/83) And when any news of security or fear come to them, they disclose it; whereas if they had referred it (the news) to the Messenger or to those charged with authority (if they had not disclosed it to all the people), those among them who are able to search out the news would have known it (the truth). If it had not been for the Virtue of Allah and His Mercy, all but a few of you would have certainly followed Satan.
