وَاقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْ وَأَخْرِجُوهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ أَخْرَجُوكُمْ وَالْفِتْنَةُ أَشَدُّ مِنَ الْقَتْلِ وَلاَ تُقَاتِلُوهُمْ عِندَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ حَتَّى يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ فِيهِ فَإِن قَاتَلُوكُمْ فَاقْتُلُوهُمْ كَذَلِكَ جَزَاء الْكَافِرِينَ

(2/191) Kill them (those who started the fight against you) wherever you find (catch) them and drive them out from where they drove you out (Makka), and Al-Fitnah (mischief) is worse (severer) than killing, and do not fight with them near Masjid-i Haram (the Sacred Mosque) unless they start fight with you, but if they do fight (kill) you (there), then fight back (kill). Such is the punishment of the disbelievers.
