(18/75) (Khidr) said: “Did I not say to you that you will not be able to have patience with me”? (18/76) (Moses) said: “If I ask you about anything after this, do not keep me in your company; indeed you shall have (then) reached an (acceptable) excuse from me (for you not keeping me in your company)”. (18/77) Then they both proceeded, till, when they came to the people of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused to accept them as guests. Then they found a wall which was on the point of collapsing, so (Khidr) set it up straight. (Moses) said: “If you had wished, surely, you could have taken a wage for it”. (18/78) (Khidr) said: “This shall be separation between me and you. Now I will inform you of the significance (interpretation) of that with which you could not have patience”. (18/79) As for the ship, it belonged to poor people who worked on the sea and I wished to make a defective damage in it, as there was behind them a king who seized every ship by force. (18/80) And as for the boy, his parents were believers and we feared lest he should drag them into rebellion and disbelief. (18/81) So we intended that their Lord should substitute for them one better than him in purity and nearer to mercy. (18/82) And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was under it a treasure belonging to them, and their father was an improved one (Sâlih). So your Lord desired that they should attain their age of full maturity and take out their treasure, as a mercy from their Lord, and I did not do it of my own command (but the command of Allah). This is the significance (interpretation) of that with which you could not have patience. (18/83) And they ask you about “Dhû’l-Qarnain”. Say: “I shall relay (explain) to you by mentioning him”. (18/84) Surely We made him strong in the earth and granted him means of access to everything. (18/85) So he followed a course (He set out). (18/86) When he reached the setting place of the sun, he found it setting in a spring of murky water, and found by it a people. We said: “O Dhû’l-Qarnain! Either you torment them, or treat them with kindness”. (18/87) (Dhû’l-Qarnain) said: “As for him who does wrong, we shall torment him, then he shall be returned to his Lord, and He will torment him with a fearsome torment”. (18/88) And as for him who believes (who wishes to reach Allah before death) and does improving deeds (that cleanse the soul), then for him there is the best reward (heaven and the worldly happiness) and We will speak to him (carry out for him) of Our Command what is easy. (18/89) Then he followed a course (He set off). (18/90) When he reached the land of the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people to whom We had given no shelter from it. (18/91) So that We surrounded (with Our Knowledge) all that was with him (all the events that had happened), being All-Informed. (18/92) Then he followed (another) course (He set off). (18/93) When he reached between the two Barriers, he found aside from those two (nations) a people who could hardly understand a speech. (18/94) They said: “O Dhû’l-Qarnain! Verily Ya’jûj and Ma’jûj (Gog and Magog) make mischief in the earth. Shall we then pay you a tribute that you should raise a barrier between us and them”? (18/95) (Dhû’l-Qarnain) said: “That in which my Lord has strengthened (supported) me is better. Therefore, (you) only help me with a force. I will make a fortified barrier between you and them”. (18/96) “Bring me blocks of iron. When the space between the two mountain sides is leveled, blow (with your bellows)”. When he had made it fire, he said: “Bring me molten copper which I may pour over it”. (18/97) So they shall not be able to pass over it nor could they make a hole in it. (18/98) (Dhû’l Qarnain) said: “This is a mercy from my Lord, but when the Promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it level with the ground, and the Promise of my Lord is ever true”. (18/99) And on the Day of Permission We left them mixed to each other and the Trumpet was blown. Then We gathered them altogether. (18/100) And We presented Hell, on the Day of Permission before the disbelievers as a severe presentation. (18/101) They whose eyes were under a cover from My Remembrance (Dhikr), and they could not hear (Me). (18/102) Did those who disbelieve think that My servants would be taking other friends besides Me? Surely We have prepared Hell as an offering (dwelling place) for the disbelievers. (18/103) Say: “Shall we inform you of the greatest losers in deeds”? (18/104) They whose work (deeds) is deviated in the life of the world (the degrees that they have lost are more than the degrees that they have earned) and they reckoned that they were doing good deeds. (18/105) These are they who denied the Verses of their Lord and reaching Him (the spirit’s reaching Allah before death). So their deeds became vain and therefore We will not set up a scale for them on the Day of Resurrection. (18/106) Hell is their recompense for what they concealed and held My Verses and My Messengers in mockery. (18/107) Those who believe (those who wish to reach Allah before death) and do improving deeds (the soul’s cleansing), their place of entertainment shall be the Gardens of Al-Firdaus. (18/108) Where they shall dwell forever, they shall not desire to leave from there. (18/109) Say: “If the seas were ink for (writing) the Words of my Lord, the seas would surely be consumed before the Words of my Lord are exhausted, even if We were to bring the like of that for its aid”. (18/110) Say: “I am only a human being like you. It is revealed to me that your God is One God, therefore whoever wishes to reach Allah (before death) let him do improving deeds (the soul’s cleansing) and let him not associate anyone with Him in the worship of his Lord”.

Maryam
(19/1) Kâf-Hâ-Yâ-Aîn-Sâd. (19/2) (This chapter is) a mention (story) of the Mercy of your Lord to His servant Zachariah. (19/3) He had called out his Lord (Allah) a call in secret. (19/4) (He) said: “Surely I (am weakened) and my bones (too) are weakened and my head (hair) is filled with gray. And, my Lord, I have never been ungrateful in my prayer to You”. (19/5) And surely I feared my relatives after me (that they will not behave like me) and my wife is now barren. Therefore give me from Your Presence a Walî (a friend, a helper, a son, an heir). (19/6) Who should inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob and make him, my Lord, one who is Well-Pleased with You. (19/7) O Zachariah! Surely We give you the glad tidings of a son, whose name shall be John (Yahyâ). We have not given this name to anyone before. (19/8) (Zachariah) said: “My Lord! How shall I have a son when my wife is barren and I myself have reached extreme old age”? (19/9) (The angel) said: “Just like that”. Your Lord says: “It is easy to Me, and indeed I created you before, when you were nothing”. (19/10) (Zachariah) said: “My Lord! Appoint for me a sign”. (Allah) said: “Your sign is that you will not speak to the people three nights while in sound health”. (19/11) So he went forth to his people from Al-Mihrâb (the Shrine), and he revealed to them (he had them hear with his inner voice without speaking) that they should glorify (Allah) night and day. (19/12) O John (Yahyâ)! Take hold of (own) the Book with strength (care), and We granted him the Wisdom while yet a child. (19/13) And (We gave him) Love and purity (soul’s cleansing) from Our Presence and he became the owner of Takwâ (piety). (19/14) And was the owner of Birr towards his parents and he was not rebellious tyrant. (19/15) And peace be on him on the day he was born, and on the day he dies, and on the Day he is raised to life (resurrected). (19/16) And mention (remember) Mary (Maryam) in the Book. She had withdrawn from her family to a place toward the east. (19/17) Then she took a veil in seclusion from them. Then We sent to her Our spirit (the Holy Spirit). He appeared to her as a regular man. (19/18) (Mary) said: “I seek refuge in the Most Beneficent from you. If you are the owner of piety (no harm would come from you)”. (19/19) (He) said: “I am only a Messenger from your Lord that I will grant you a pure boy”. (19/20) (She said): “How can I have a son, as no human being has yet touched me, nor have I been unchaste”? (19/21) (The Holy Spirit) said: “Just like that”. Your Lord said: “It is easy to me, and that We will make him a sign (miracle) to mankind and a Mercy from Us”. And it is a matter which has already been decreed. (19/22) So she conceived him. Then withdrew herself with him to a remote place. (19/23) And the pains of childbirth compelled her (to take refuge) to the trunk of a date-palm. (She) said: “Oh, I wish I had died before this, and had been a thing quite forgotten”. (19/24) Then a call out to her from below her came: “Do not grieve; surely your Lord has made a stream to flow under you”. (19/25) And shake the trunk of date-palm towards you; it will drop on you fresh ripe-dates. (19/26) So eat and drink and be contented! Then if you see anybody, say: “Surely I have vowed a fast (not to talk) to the Most-Beneficent, so I shall not speak to anyone today”. (19/27) And she came to her people carrying him. (Her people) said: “O Mary! Surely you have done a strange (bad) thing”. (19/28) O sister of Aaron! Your father was not a wicked man, nor was your mother an unchaste woman. (19/29) Then she pointed to him (baby). (They) said: “How should we speak to one who is a baby in the cradle”? (19/30) (Baby) said: “Surely I am a servant of Allah. He has given me the Book and made me a prophet”. (19/31) And He has made me blessed wherever I may be, and He has enjoined on me the Prayer (As-Salât) and the alms giving (Az-Zakât) so long as I live. (19/32) And He has commanded me to be the owner of Birr to my mother and He has not made me an insolent ungrateful. (19/33) And peace be upon me on the day I was born, and on the day I die, and on the Day I am raised up to life alive. (19/34) Such is Jesus, son of Mary. (He) is the Word of the Truth (Hakk) about which they doubt. (19/35) It does not beseem Allah that He should take a son. Glory be to Him! When He decrees a matter, He only says to it “Be”, and it is. (19/36) And surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord (as well), therefore become servants to Him! This is Sıratı Mustakîm (The Path directed towards Allah). (19/37) After that the sects from among themselves differed. So, woe to those who disbelieve when a great Day will be witnessed. (19/38) How clearly We shall let them hear and see (How many a thing they will be made to hear and to see) on the Day when they will come to Us. But the wrong-doers this Day (still) are in a manifest Misguidance. (19/39) And warn them of the Day of longing, when the matter shall have been fulfilled; and they are in heedlessness and they do not believe. (19/40) Surely We shall inherit the earth and all those who are on it, and to Us they shall be returned. (19/41) And mention in the Book Abraham. Surely he was a truthful Prophet (who gave lots of alms, was loyal, and always told the truth). (19/42) (Abraham) said to his father: “O my father! Why do you worship what neither hears nor sees, nor does it avail you in the least”? (19/43) O my father! Verily there has come to me of the Knowledge that which did not come to you! So depend on me, I shall guide you to Sıratı Seviye (the Smooth Path that delivers to Allah). (19/44) O my father! Do not do not be a servant to Satan! Surely Satan turned rebellious against the Most-Beneficent. (19/45) O my father! Surely I fear lest a torment from the Most-Beneficent should touch you! In such case you should become a friend of Satan. (19/46) (His father) said: “O Abraham! Do you not value my gods? If you do not desist (from this), I will certainly stone you, and depart from me a long while. (19/47) (He) said: “Peace be on you! I will ask forgiveness of my Lord for you. Surely He is Ever Most Gracious unto me”. (19/48) And I am withdrawing from you and what you call on besides Allah, and I am calling upon my Lord. Maybe I shall not remain ungrateful in calling upon my Lord. (19/49) So when he withdrew from them and what they served besides Allah, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob and each one of them We made a Prophet. (19/50) And We granted to them of Our Mercy; and We made them (Abraham and his sons) truthful and exalted on (all) the tongues. (19/51) And mention in the Book Moses. Surely he was one utterly purified, and he was a Messenger Prophet. (19/52) And We called to him from the right side of Tur (Sinai) and draw him near to Us, so that We could converse with (reveal to) him. (19/53) And We granted him his brother Aaron as a Prophet, out of Our Mercy. (19/54) And mention Ishmael in the Book (as well). Because he was truthful to his promise, and he was a Prophet Messenger. (19/55) And he was enjoining on his family (people) the Prayer and the alms giving (Az-Zakât) and was one who was Well-Pleased with in the presence of his Lord. (19/56) And mention in the Book Idrîs (Enoch). Surely he was a loyal Prophet. (19/57) And We raised him to a High Station (to Heaven). (19/58) These are those on whom Allah has bestowed Blessings, from among the prophets. They are of the offspring of Adam, and of those whom We carried with Noah, and of the offspring of Abraham and Israel, and from among those We delivered to Hidayet and chose. When the Verses of the Most Beneficent were recited to them, they would fall down in prostration and weep. (19/59) However, the generation came after them neglected the prayer and followed their lusts (sensual desires), so they will soon meet with “Gayy” (the lowest part of Hell). (19/60) Except those who repent, become âmenû (who wish to reach Allah before death) and do improving deeds (the soul’s cleansing). These shall enter Heaven and they will not be wronged in the least. (19/61) The Gardens of Eden which the Most Beneficent has promised to His servants while Unseen. Surely that (The Gardens of Eden) is His promise, shall be fulfilled. (19/62) They shall not hear therein any nonsense, but only “Peace”, and there is their sustenance morning and evening. (19/63) This is Heaven which We shall give as an inheritance to those of Our servants who have been Al-Muttaqûn (the owners of piety, Takwâ). (19/64) And we (the angel messengers) do not descend except by the Command of your Lord; to Him belongs whatever is before us and whatever is behind us and whatever is between these, and your Lord is never forgetful (of you). (19/65) Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them. So become a servant to Him! And be patient in His servant-hood! Do you know any (one) that is named with His name? (19/66) And human says: “Shall I truly be brought forth alive when I am dead”? (19/67) Does not human think that how We created him before, when he was nothing? (19/68) So by your Lord, We will also most certainly gather them and the satans together. Then shall We certainly cause them to be present round Hell on their knees. (19/69) Then We will surely extract from every group those of them who were the most rebellious against the Most Beneficent. (19/70) Then, We do certainly know best those who deserve most to be exposed to it (Hell). (19/71) And there is not one of you but shall arrive to it (hell). This is an absolute decree on your Lord. (19/72) Then We will deliver those who have piety and We will leave the wrong-doers on their knees. (19/73) And when Our Verses were recited and explained to them, those who disbelieve said to those who believe: “Which of the two parties is more advantageous in station and best in assembly”? (19/74) And how many of the generations have We destroyed before them who were better in respect of goods and outward appearance! (19/75) Say: “Whoever remains in Misguidance, the Most Beneficent will surely prolong his length of days, until they see what they were promised with, either the torment or the Hour (Doomsday)”. Then they shall know who is more in evil plight and weaker in aid. (19/76) And Allah increases the Hidayet those who are in Hidayet. And the ever lasting improving deeds are with your Lord best in recompense and best in return (as well). (19/77) Have you, then, seen the one who disbelieves in Our Verses and says: “I shall certainly be given wealth and children”? (19/78) Has he gained the knowledge of the Unseen or has he made a covenant in the presence of the Most Beneficent? (19/79) By no means! We shall write down what he says and We will lengthen to him the length of the torment. (19/80) And We will inherit the things what he says, and he shall come to Us alone (without wealth or children). (19/81) And they (idol worshippers) have taken gods besides Allah that they should be to them a source of honor. (19/82) By no means! They (idols) shall soon deny their worshipping them, and they shall be adversaries to them. (19/83) Do you not see how We send the satans upon the disbelievers, inciting them by incitement? (19/84) Therefore be not in haste against them. We only count out to them numbers (of days). (19/85) On that Day We shall gather the owners of piety to the Most Beneficent with honor and offerings. (19/86) And We shall drive the guilty to Hell thirsty. (19/87) None may have the intercession except the one who has taken a covenant from the Most Beneficent. (19/88) And they said: “The Most Beneficent has taken a son”. (19/89) Certainly you have made (said) an awful thing. (19/90) The heavens would almost rupture therefrom and the earth would split open and the mountains would collapse in devastation. (19/91) That they ascribed a son to the Most Beneficent. (19/92) And it is not suitable for the Most Beneficent that He should take a son. (19/93) There is none in the heavens and the earth but shall come to the Most Beneficent as a servant. (19/94) He has enumerated them and counted them a full counting individually. (19/95) And every one of them will come to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone. (19/96) Surely those who believe (become âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before death) and do improving deeds (the soul’s cleansing), Allah will make them those who are loved. (19/97) So We have only made it (the Qur’ân) easy in your tongue that you may give glad tidings thereby to the owners of piety and warn thereby a vehemently contentious people. (19/98) And how many a generation have We destroyed before them? Do you see any one of them or hear even a whisper of them?

Ta-Ha
(20/1) Tâ-Hâ. (20/2) We have not sent down the Qur’ân to you that you may be distressed. (20/3) As a reminder to those who are the owners of reverence. (20/4) Brought down from Him Who created the earth and the high heavens. (20/5) The Most Beneficent rose over the Arsh (Beyond existence, the highest post that is only for Allah). (20/6) His is what is in the heavens and what is in the earth and what is between the two, and what is under the damp soil. (20/7) And if you utter the saying aloud (or not), surely He knows the secret, and what is yet more hidden (and the most hidden). (20/8) Allah! There is no god but He. His are the most beautiful Names. (20/9) And has the news of Moses come to you? (20/10) When he saw a fire, he said to his family: “Stay here and wait, for surely I have seen a fire. Perhaps I can bring you therefrom a burning brand (glorious light) or find Hidayet at the fire (by that glorious light)”. (20/11) So when he came to it (fire/glorious light), a voice was uttered: “O Moses”! (20/12) Surely I, I am your Lord. Now put off your shoes. Surely you are in the sacred valley, Tuwâ. (20/13) And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed. (20/14) Surely I, I am Allah. There is no god but I, therefore become a servant to Me, and keep up the Prayer for My remembrance (Dhikr)! (20/15) Surely that Hour (Doomsday) will come. For every soul to be rewarded (or punished) for its work I will almost hide it from Myself. (20/16) Therefore let not those who do not believe in it (the Doomsday) and follow their low desires turn you away from it (belief in the Doomsday). Then you should (also) perish. (20/17) And what is it in your right hand, O Moses? (20/18) He said: “This is my staff, I recline (lean) on it and I beat down the leaves with it to make them fall upon my sheep and I have other uses (benefits) for it”. (20/19) (Allah) said: “Cast it down, O Moses”! (20/20) So he cast it down. Then it had become a serpent, moving (slithering) quickly. (20/21) (Allah) said: “Take hold of it and do not fear! We will restore it to its former state”. (20/22) And put your hand under your armpit. As another sign (miracle) take it out white (with glorious light) without a flaw (pure). (20/23) That We may show you one of Our Greater Signs (Miracles). (20/24) Go to Pharaoh! Surely he has exceeded the limits. (20/25) (Moses) said: “My Lord! Open (split) my chest”. (20/26) And make my affair easy to me. (20/27) And loose the knot (remove the impediment) from my tongue. (20/28) (That) they may understand my words. (20/29) And appoint for me a helper from my family. (20/30) My brother, Aaron. (20/31) Strengthen my power by him (Increase my strength with him). (20/32) And partner him in my affair. (20/33) So that we much glorify You. (20/34) And remember You (do your Dhikr) much. (20/35) Surely, You are the One Who sees us. (20/36) (Allah) said: “O Moses! You are indeed granted your request”. (20/37) And certainly We had bestowed on you a Blessing at another time. (20/38) We had revealed to your mother what had to be revealed. (20/39) (Revealed her) to put him into the chest, then to cast it down into the sea (river). So the sea shall throw him on the shore. There shall take him up one who is an enemy to Me and enemy to him. And for you to be brought up before My Eye (under My Protection) I cast down upon you love from Me. (20/40) Your sister was walking (following you) and saying (to them when they took you into the Palace): “Shall I direct you to (help you find) one who will take charge of him (nurse him and take care of him)”? So We brought you back to your mother, that her eye might be cooled (she would be content) and she should not grieve. And you had killed someone. Then We had delivered you from the grief (distress) and We tried you with various trials. Then you stayed for years among the people of Madyan. Then you came here as your destiny (within the decreed time), O Moses! (20/41) And I have chosen you (as a Prophet) for Myself and brought you up. (20/42) Go you and your brother with My Verses (Miracles) and do not, slacken and become weak in My Remembrance (be in a continuous Dhikr). (20/43) Go both to Pharaoh, surely he exceeded the limits. (20/44) Then speak to him with gentle words. So that he may deliberate (understand) or have reverence. (20/45) (Both) said: “Our Lord! Surely we fear that he may exceed the limit against us (exaggerate) or that he may become inordinate”. (20/46) (Allah) said: “You both don’t be afraid! Surely I am with you both; I do hear and see”. (20/47) So go you both to him and say: “Surely we are two Messengers of your Lord. Therefore send the Children of Israel with us and do not torment them! Indeed we have brought to you a Verse (Miracle) from your Lord, and peace is on those who follow Hidayet”. (20/48) Surely it has been revealed to us that the torment will surely come upon those who deny and turn their backs. (20/49) (Pharaoh) said: “And who is the Lord of you two, O Moses”? (20/50) (Moses) said: “Our Lord is He Who gives to everything its creation, then delivers to Hidayet”. (20/51) (Pharaoh) said: “Then, what is the state of the former generations”? (20/52) He said: “The knowledge of that is with my Lord, in a Book (Mother of the Books). My Lord never errs, nor forgets. (20/53) It is He Who made the earth for you a bed (cradle) and opened for you in it ways and sent down water from the sky. Then We have brought forth with it pairs of various plants. (20/54) Eat and pasture your cattle. Most surely there are Signs (proofs) in this for those endowed with understanding. (20/55) From it We created you and there We shall send you back and from it will We bring you out once again. (20/56) And truly We showed him all Our Verses (Miracles) but he belied and insisted (on his lie). (20/57) (Pharaoh) said: “Have you come to us that you should drive us out of our land by your magic, O Moses”? (20/58) So we too will produce before you magic like it, therefore make between us and you an appointment, which we should not break (neither) we nor you (in) a central place convenient (for both of us). (20/59) (Moses) said: “Your appointed meeting is the day of the Embellishment (Festival) when the people assemble at mid-morning”. (20/60) So Pharaoh turned (left) and devised his plot, then came. (20/61) Moses said to them: “Woe to you! Do not forge a lie against Allah, lest He should destroy you completely by a torment and those who forged a lie always perished”. (20/62) So they debated with one another about their affair (plot) and kept their discourse secret. (20/63) They said: “These two are most surely magicians who wish to drive you out of your land by their magic and to destroy your clan (way, religion) that is superior”. (20/64) (Pharaoh) said: “So devise your plot (magic), then come standing in ranks (order). And whoever gains the upper hand on that day will surely prosper (have salvation)”. (20/65) They said: “O Moses! Will you cast (your staff), or shall we be the first who cast down”? (20/66) (Moses) said: “Nay! (You) cast down”! Then their cords and their rods appeared to him as if they were moving fast on account of their magic. (20/67) So Moses conceived in him a fear. (20/68) We said: “Do not fear, surely you, you are the uppermost”. (20/69) And cast down what is in your right hand (your staff), it shall swallow up what they have made. What they have made is only a magician’s trick and the magicians shall not have Salvation wheresoever they may come from. (20/70) Upon that the magicians fell down prostrate. They said: “We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses”. (20/71) (Pharaoh) said: “Did you believe in him before I gave you permission? Surely he is an elder (expert) of you who taught you magic, therefore I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will certainly crucify you on the trunks of palm-trees. And certainly you will come to know which of us is more severe and more lasting in torment”. (20/72) They said: “We would never prefer you to what has come to us of the clear miracles. Because He created us, therefore do what you are going to do. But you can only do in this world’s life”. (20/73) Surely we believe in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins (pardon us and change our evil deeds into rewards) and the magic to which you compelled us. And Allah is better and more lasting. (20/74) Whoever comes to his Lord being guilty, for him is surely Hell. He shall not die therein, nor shall he live. (20/75) And whoever comes to Him as a believer and he has done improving deeds (the soul’s cleansing), then for them, for such are the high degrees. (20/76) The Gardens of Eden, beneath which the rivers flow, where they will abide forever. And this is the Reward of those who are cleansed (cleansed and purified their soul). (20/77) And certainly We revealed to Moses: “Travel by night with My servants, then strike (your staff) for them a dry road! Do not fear to be caught (by Pharaoh), nor worry (of being drowned in the sea)”. (20/78) So Pharaoh pursued them with his army. Upon that the sea covered them with such covering that which (completely) covered them (drowned them). (20/79) And Pharaoh left his people in Misguidance and hindered them (his nation) from Hidayet. (20/80) O Children of Israel! We had delivered you from your enemy. And We made a Promise to you (in order to meet you) on the right side of the Tour (Mount Sinai), and We sent to you the Manna and the quails. (20/81) Eat of the clean things We have given you as sustenance, and be not inordinate (ungrateful) with respect to them (what you are eating). Else My Wrath should descend on you. And those on whom My Wrath descends, they have indeed perished (they have fallen into Misguidance by following the low desires of their soul). (20/82) And most surely I am the Most Forgiving (the One who converts their sins into merits) to those who repent (before a saint guide, the Murshid with 12 blessings) and become âmenû (the second time) (who became believers with increased Faith as the ‘Faith’ has been written in their souls’ hearts) and do improving deed (Dhikr, remembrance, the repetition of the Name of Allah) (those who do deeds that improve the soul’s heart). Then, they are delivered to Hidayet (by Me) (their spirits are made to reach Allah before death). (20/83) And what caused you to hasten (and separate) from your people, O Moses? (20/84) (Moses) said: “They are, they are here on my track (they are following me) and I hastened on to You (coming to You) my Lord, for Your pleasure”. (20/85) (Allah) said: “So surely We have tried your people after you, and Sâmirî has caused them to fall into Misguidance”. (20/86) So Moses returned to his people wrathful, sorrowing. He said: “O my people! Did not your Lord promise you a goodly promise? Did then the promise time seem to you long in coming? Or did you desire that Wrath should descend from your Lord on you? Is that why you did not fulfill your promise to me”? (20/87) They said: “We did not break our promise to you of our own will. But we were made to bear the burdens of the (gold) ornaments of that nation. Therefore we cast them (into the fire to melt). Then did Sâmirî too”. (20/88) So he brought forth for them a calf, a sculpture, which had a mooing sound. So they said (Sâmirî and his supporters): “This is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot”. (20/89) Could they not see that it did not return to them an answer, and that it had no power either to harm them or to benefit them? (20/90) And certainly Aaron had said to them before: “O my people! You are only tried by it, and surely The Most Beneficent is your Lord, therefore follow me and obey my order”. (20/91) They said: “We will by no means cease to keep to its worship until Moses returns to us”. (20/92) (Moses) said: “O Aaron! What prevented you (from warning them) when you saw them falling into Misguidance”? (20/93) Why did not you follow me? Did you then rebel against my order? (20/94) (Aaron) said: “O son of my mother! Do not seize me by my beard, or by my head. Surely I was afraid that you should say: “You have caused a division (disagreement, enmity) among the Children of Israel and you have not observed (carried out) my word”. (20/95) (He) said: “Then, O Sâmirî, what was your address (to them) (what did you say to them)”? (20/96) (Sâmirî) said: “I saw what they did not see. I took a handful (of the dirt) from where the Messenger (Gabriel) stepped and flung it (into melted metal) thus did my soul make it fair-seeming to me”. (20/97) (Moses) said: “Go away at once! Surely for you it will be in this life to say: ‘Do not touch (me)’. Surely there is a promise (punishment) for you, which shall not be made to fail, and look at your (so-called) god to whose worship you kept persistently! We will certainly burn it, then we will certainly scatter its ash, scattering in the sea”. (20/98) Your God is only Allah, there is no god but He. He comprehends (surrounds) all things in (His) Knowledge. (20/99) Thus do We relate to you of the news of what has gone before. And indeed We have given to you a Reminder (the Qur’ân) from Our Presence. (20/100) Whoever turns aside from it, he shall surely bear a burden (the degrees that he has lost) on the Day of Resurrection. (20/101) Abiding (forever) in this (in the torment that heavy burden will bring), and evil indeed will it be that (heavy) burden for them on the Day of Resurrection. (20/102) On that Day the Trumpet shall be blown. And We will gather the guilty, turned black-and-blue, on that Day. (20/103) They will speak in a very low voice to each other (saying). “You stayed (in the world) not longer than ten (days)”. (20/104) We know best what they say, when the one who is similar to them in respect of the way will say: “You stayed no longer than a day”. (20/105) And they ask you about the mountain(s). Say: “My Lord will crush them to fine dust and toss”. (20/106) He will leave it (the place of the mountains) as a leveled plain. (20/107) You shall not see therein (in the place of the mountains) any crookedness or unevenness (lowness and highness). (20/108) On the Day of Permission they shall follow the Caller in whom there is no crookedness and the voices will be hushed before the Most Beneficent so that you shall hear no sound but a light whisper. (20/109) On the Day of Permission no intercession shall avail except of him whom the Most Beneficent allows and whose word He is well pleased with (the owner of the Consent of Control). (20/110) (Allah) knows what is before them (their future) and what is behind them (their past), while they do not comprehend it with (their) knowledge. (20/111) And the faces (every one) humbled themselves before the Ever Living, the Self-Subsistent (Allah). And those who bore (a burden of) wrongdoing were indeed perished (entitled to hell). (20/112) And whoever does improving deeds (that improve the soul’s heart) being a believer (as Faith has been written into their hearts), let them have no fear of injustice (wrongdoing) nor of the withholding of his due (of the curtailment of the degrees that they earned). (20/113) And thus have We sent it down as an Arabic Qur’ân and have explained therein in detail of promises so that they may become the owners of piety or it may be a reminder for them. (20/114) Supremely Exalted is therefore Allah, the King, the Truth. And do not make haste with the Qur’ân before its revelation is made complete to you. And say: “My Lord! Increase me in knowledge”. (20/115) And indeed We gave a covenant to Adam, but he forgot. And We did not find him determined. (20/116) And We had said to the angels: “Prostrate yourselves to Adam”! They prostrated themselves except Iblîs (Lucifer). He (Lucifer) resisted (did not prostrate). (20/117) So We said: “O Adam! This (Satan) is indeed an enemy to you and to your wife. Therefore let him not drive you both from heaven so that you should be distressed (unhappy)”. (20/118) Surely there is neither hunger nor nakedness in it (heaven). (20/119) And that you shall not be thirsty in it nor shall you feel the heat of the sun. (20/120) Then Satan whispered to him. He said: “O Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that will never come to an end”? (20/121) Upon that they both ate of it (from the tree), and so their private parts became manifest to them. They both began to cover themselves with leaves of heaven and Adam rebelled against (disobeyed) his Lord, and went astray. (20/122) Then his Lord chose him, so He accepted his repentance and delivered him to Hidayet. (20/123) (Allah) said: “Go down, both of you, therefrom. All (Satan and you) being an enemy one to another. After that there will surely come to you Hidayet from Me. Then whoever follows My Hidayet, he shall not remain in Misguidance nor shall be unhappy”. (20/124) And whoever turns away from My Reminder (Dhikr) assuredly for him is a straitened life and We will raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection. (20/125) He said (on the Day of Resurrection): “My Lord! Why have You raised me up blind? I was a seeing one indeed (before, in my life-time)”. (20/126) (Allah) said: “Like this; Our Signs came to you, but you forgot them. And thus will you this Day be forgotten”. (20/127) And thus do We punish those who are wasteful (who exceed the limits) and do not believe in the Verses of their Lord. And certainly the torment of the Hereafter is severer and more lasting. (20/128) Did not they still reach Hidayet? Although so many generations We destroyed before them as they walk among their dwellings. Most surely there are Signs in this for those endowed with understanding (what Allah prohibits). (20/129) And if there had not been Word already gone forth from your Lord and an appointed term, it (a punishment) would surely have been necessary to them. (20/130) Then bear them patiently what they say! And glorify your Lord by the praising of Him before the rising of the sun and before its setting, and during hours of the night. And do also glorify (Him) throughout the day. It is hoped that you may reach the Divine Consent. (20/131) And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to some of them, its being but the splendor of worldly life by which We test them. And the provision of your Lord is better and more enduring. (20/132) And enjoin the Prayer on your family (and your followers) and be patient on it (the prayer). We do not ask you for subsistence. We do give your subsistence, and the (best) end is for the pious (the owners of piety, Takwâ). (20/133) And they said: “Why does he not bring to us a Verse from his Lord? Has not there come to them a clear evidence of what is in the previous pages”? (20/134) And if We had destroyed them with a torment before this, they would certainly have said: “Our Lord! If only You had sent to us a Messenger, we should certainly have followed Your Verses, before we were humiliated and disgraced”. (20/135) Say: “Everyone is awaiting, therefore you wait as well! So you will come to know who is the follower of the Sıratı Seviyye (Sıratı Mustakîm) and who has attained Hidayet”.
