(12/53) And I cannot exonerate my soul. Most surely the soul always commands what is evil, except (the souls) such as on whom my Lord manifests Himself with His Name of Most Merciful. Surely my Lord is Oft-Forgiving (the One Who changes the evil deeds into rewards), the Most Merciful (the One who sends the Light of Mercy and show mercy). (12/54) And the king said: “Bring him to me! I appointed him exclusively for myself.” So when he had spoken with him, he said: “Surely you have an honorable position in our presence today, and you are safe (of a person).” (12/55) (Joseph) said: “Appoint me over the treasures of the land! Surely I am a good keeper, knowing well.” (12/56) Thus We established Joseph (Thus did We give authority to Joseph) in the land. He dwelled in it wherever he liked. We reach with Our Mercy whom we will. And We do not waste the reward (wage) of the good-doers (Muhsinîn). (12/57) And certainly the reward of the hereafter (wishing to render the spirit back to Allah before death) is much better for those who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah while they are alive). And they have become the owners of piety (Takwâ). (12/58) And Joseph’s brothers came and entered upon him. He recognized them while they did not know him. (12/59) And when he furnished them with their provision, he said: “Bring to me the other brother of yours from your father. Do you not see that I give full measure and that I am the best of the hosts.” (12/60) “But if you do not bring him to me, you shall have no measure (provision) from me, nor shall you come near me.” (12/61) They said: “We will strive to make his father yield in respect of him and verily we shall do it.” (12/62) And (Joseph) said to his young menservants: “Put their sum given for provision into their saddlebags that they may recognize it when they go back to their family, so that they may come back.” (12/63) So when they returned to their families they told (their father): “O our father! The measure is hindered from us. Therefore send with us our brother, so that we may get the measure (provision). We will most surely guard him.” (12/64) (Jacob) said: Am I to entrust him to you as I once entrusted his brother to you before? But Allah is the best guardian, and He is the most merciful of the merciful." (12/65) And when they opened their goods, they found their capital returned to them and they said: “O our father! What else can we desire? This is our capital returned to us, and we will bring food (again) for our family and guard our brother, and will have in addition the measure of a camel’s load. This is a small quantity.” (12/66) (Jacob) said: “I will never send him with you until you give me a (firm) covenant in Allah’s Name that you will most surely bring him back to me, unless you are completely surrounded.” And when they gave him their covenant, he said: “Allah is the Surrogate of what we say.” (12/67) And (he) said: “O my sons! Do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates. I cannot remove from you anything that comes from Allah. Judgment is only Allah’s. In Him I put my trust and let all those who trust put their trust in Him”. (12/68) And they entered in the manner their father had advised, but it did not benefit them in the least against the Decree of Allah. It was but a wish in Jacob’s soul which he had thus fulfilled. And indeed, he was a possessor of knowledge because of what We had taught him. But most of the people do not know. (12/69) And when they entered upon Joseph, he took his (blood) brother to himself. He said: “I am indeed your brother, therefore do not grieve at what they do.” (12/70) So when he had furnished them forth with their provisions, he put the drinking cup into his brother’s saddle-bag. Then a crier shouted out: “O caravan! You are most surely thieves.” (12/71) They said turning towards them: “What is it that you have lost?” (12/72) (They) said: “We have lost the king’s drinking cup and he who shall bring it shall have a camel-load (of provision) and I guarantee this.” (12/73) By Allah! You know for certain that we have not come to make mischief in the land, and we are not thieves. (12/74) (They) said: “What shall be then the requital of this, if you are liars?” (12/75) (They) said: “The requital of this is that he, in whose saddle-bag it is found, should be (held as a slave for) the requital of it. This is how we punish the wrongdoers.” (12/76) So he began (the search) with their sacks before the sack of his brother, then he brought it out of his brother’s sack. Thus did We plan for Joseph. It was not (lawful) that he should take his brother under the king’s law unless Allah willed. We raise the degrees of whomsoever We will. And above every one possessed of knowledge is the All-Knowing. (12/77) They said: “If he has stolen, a brother of his has also stolen before.” But Joseph kept it secret in his heart and did not disclose it to them. (He said): “You are in a worse case, and Allah is the Best Knower of what you describe.” (12/78) (They) said: “O exalted sir, behold! He has a father, a very old man, so take (retain) one of us in his place. Surely we see you to be of the doers of good (Muhsinîn).” (12/79) I take refuge in Allah that we should take anyone but him with whom we found our property. Indeed (if we did so) we should be wrong-doers. (12/80) Then when they despaired of him, they secluded themselves in private consultation. The eldest of them softly said: “Do you not know that your father took from you a covenant in Allah’s Name, and how you fell short of your duty with respect to Joseph before? Therefore I will by no means depart from this land until my father permits me or Allah judges for me, and He is the Best of the judges.” (12/81) Go back to your father and say: “O our father! Surely your son has committed a theft, and we did not bear witness except to what we have known (seen). And we were not witnesses of the unseen either. (12/82) And inquire in the town in which we were and the caravan in which we came. Most surely we are truthful. (12/83) (Jacob) said: “No, but your souls have tempted you to this.” So, patience is most fitting. Perhaps Allah will bring them to me all together. Truly He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise! (12/84) And he turned away from them, and said: “My poor Joseph!” And his eyes turned white because of the grief, even though he was a repressor of his grief. (12/85) (His sons) said: “By Allah! You keep mentioning Joseph until you become fatally ill or until you are of those who perish.” (12/86) (Jacob) said: “I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah, and I know from Allah what you do not know.” (12/87) O my sons! Go and inquire about Joseph and his brother, and do not despair of Allah’s Relief. Surely none despairs of Allah’s Relief except the disbelieving people. (12/88) So when they entered upon him, they said: “O exalted one! A hard time has hit us and our family and we have brought but poor capital. So give us full measure and be charitable to us. Surely Allah rewards the charitable.” (12/89) Joseph said: “Do you know (remember) what you did with Joseph and his brother when you were ignorant?” (12/90) They said: “Is it truly you? You are indeed Joseph!” “I am Joseph and this is my brother. Allah has bestowed blessing upon us. Because, whoever has piety and patience, surely Allah does not waste the reward of the good-doers (Muhsinîn).” (12/91) They said: “By Allah! Indeed Allah has preferred you above us, and we certainly have been (deliberate) sinners.” (12/92) He said: “There is no reproach on you this day. May Allah forgive you and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful”. (12/93) “Take my very shirt and cast it on my father’s face. His sight will be back. And bring me your family, all together”. (12/94) And when the caravan had departed (from Egypt), their father said: “Surely, I perceive Joseph’s scent (the breeze coming from Joseph) if you do not say that I am a dotard.” (12/95) They said: “By Allah, you are most surely in your old aberration (caused by your old grief).” (12/96) Then, when the bearer of glad tidings came, he cast it (Joseph’s shirt) on his (father’s) face. Immediately his sight returned. Jacob said: “Did I not say to you! I know from Allah (thru revelation) what you do not know?” (12/97) (Joseph’s brothers) said: “O our father! Ask forgiveness for our sins for us, surely we were (deliberate) sinners.” (12/98) (He) said: “Soon I will ask for you forgiveness from my Lord. Verily He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.” (12/99) Then when they entered upon Joseph, he took his parents with him and said: “With Allah’s willing, enter Egypt in safety.” (12/100) And he raised his parents upon the throne and they bowed to him in prostration. Joseph said: “O my father! This is the interpretation of my dream of long ago. My Lord has indeed made it to be true. And He made (designed) indeed the best for me when He brought me forth from the prison. And brought you from the desert after Satan had sown dissension between me and my brothers. Surely my Lord is Benignant to whom He wills. Verily He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.” (12/101) My Lord! You have indeed bestowed on me the sovereignty and taught me of the interpretation of the events (dreams). Originator of the heavens and the earth! You are my Friend (Walî) in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die as a submitted one (who is submitted with total submission) and join me with the improved ones. (12/102) That is of the news of the Unseen which We reveal to you. And you were not with them when they resolved upon their affair, and they were devising plans. (12/103) And most of them will not become believers though you desire it eagerly (that they become believers). (12/104) And you do not ask them for a wage for this. It is nothing but a reminder for the worlds. (12/105) There are many signs (evidences) in the heavens and the earth. Yet they turn aside from them (evidences) as they pass by them. (12/106) And most of them do not believe in Allah except that they associate others with Him. (12/107) Do they then feel secure from the coming against them of the covering veil (torment that covers everything) as a Torment of Allah, or of the coming against them of the Hour, all of a sudden while they do not perceive? (12/108) Say: “This is the way that we call to Allah as I and those who depend on me on clear evidence (on sagacity, by sighting with the eye of the heart, by sighting Allah). Glory be to Allah! And I am not of the associators. (12/109) We did not send before you any but men from the people of the towns, to whom We revealed. Do they not travel through the earth? They now should look! What was the end of those before them? And certainly the Abode of the Hereafter is best for those who are the owners of piety. Do you not then understand? (12/110) Our Help came to them when the Messengers despaired and thought that they were denied. So whomsoever We willed were rescued. Our severe punishment is not averted from the guilty people. (12/111) Verily, in their stories there is a lesson for the ûli’l elbâb (owners of divine secrets). It is not a narrative invented, but it confirms of what is before it and explains all things. It is a Guidance and a Mercy for a people who believe.

Ar-Ra'd
(13/1) Alif-Lâm-Mîm-Râ. These are the Verses of the Book, and the truth that which is sent down to you from your Lord. But most people do not believe (become Mumin). (13/2) It is Allah who erected the (levels of) heavens without pillars that you see. Then, He established Himself upon the Throne and He has subjected the sun and the moon to His command. Each one pursues its course for an appointed term. He manages and regulates all matter. He explains the Verses in detail that you may be certain of reaching your Lord (of having your spirits reach Allah before death). (13/3) And He it is Who spreads out the earth and makes it longer. He created in it firm mountains and rivers, and from all of the creation He made therein two (opposite) mates. He makes the night cover the day. Most surely there are Signs (proofs) in this for a people who reflect. (13/4) In the earth there are neighboring continents (sections of land) and gardens of vines and green crops and date-palms growing into two or three from a single stem root. They are watered with the same water, and some of them We make more excellent (in taste and smell) than others to eat. Most surely there are Signs in this for a people who understand. (13/5) If you find it strange, then actually strange is their saying: “What! When we are dust, shall we then certainly be raised in a new creation?” These are those who deny their Lord. And these are the ones who have chains on their necks, and they are the inmates of the Fire. In it they shall abide forever. (13/6) And they ask you to hasten on the bad before the good and indeed there have been many exemplary punishments before them. And most surely your Lord is the Owner of forgiveness in spite of all their wrong-doing and most surely your Lord is Severe in requiting. (13/7) And those who disbelieve say: “Why has not a miracle been sent down upon him from his Lord”? You are only a Warner and there is a guide (person of Hidayet) for every people (at all times in all nations). (13/8) Allah knows what every female bears and what the wombs decrease and increase. And everything with Him is by due measure. (13/9) He is the All-Knower of the Unseen and the seen (witnessed), the Most Great, the Most High. (13/10) It is the same among you he who conceals his words and he who speaks them openly, and he who hides himself by night and who continuous to walk by day. (13/11) For them (those in that nation) there are those who follow before them and behind them (that extends from the front side to the back) (the angels guarding the Imam of the Time). They guard them, being from the Command of Allah. Surely Allah does not alter what is in a people (He does not take away the spirit of the Imam of the Time from over their heads) unless they alter what is in their souls (their intention of remaining in Hidayet). And when Allah wills punishment to a people, there is no averting it. And there is for them besides Him no protecting friend. (13/12) He it is Who shows you the lightning causing fear and hope and generates (organizes) the clouds, heavy (with rain). (13/13) The thunder and the angels glorify Him with His praise from fear of Him. And He sends the thunderbolts and smites with them whom He wills, as they struggle against Allah. And He is the One that impossible to resist. (13/14) To Him (to Allah Himself) is the call of the Truth. And those they call upon besides Him do not respond to them with a thing. They are like the one who stretches forth his two hands towards water that it may reach his mouth. But it will not reach him. And the invitation of the disbelievers is only to Misguidance (as the water cannot reach their mouths, those who are in Misguidance cannot reach Guidance either). (13/15) Whoever is in the heavens and the earth and their shadows fall into prostration unto Allah, day and night, willingly and unwillingly [The shadows of the physical bodies are the soul (Nafs) and the spirit (Ruh). When the physical body prostrates itself, the soul too prostrates itself. The spirit prostrates itself willingly with its virtues. The soul prostrates itself unwillingly because of its vices. If the person has wished to reach Allah, when he attains to the soul’s cleansing stage, then it is the spirit that is preponderant, and the soul also prostrates itself willingly.] (13/16) Say: “Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?” Say: “Allah.” Have you then taken friends other than Him who do not possess even for themselves any benefit or any harm? Say: “Are the blind and the seeing equal, or the darkness and the glorious light?” Or do they assign to Allah partners who created the like of His Creation, so that the creation seemed alike to them? Say: “Allah is the Creator of all things.” And He is the only Demolisher, the most Powerful over everything and the Strongest. (13/17) He sent down water from the sky. So the valleys flew according to their measure. And the torrent bore along the swelling foam. There is also foam like it on which they heat (melt) in the fire, making nice adornments and utensils. Thus Allah gives such examples for the truth and the falsehood. Then the foam passes away. But what profits the people remains in the earth. Allah sets forth such illustrations. (13/18) For those who answer their Lord (His Call) is the Best (Al-Husnâ) and as for those who do not answer Him, if they had all that is in the earth and the like thereof with it they would certainly offer it for a ransom. As for those, there is an evil reckoning and their abode is Hell; how evil resting-place. (13/19) Is he then who knows that what has been sent to you from Lord is the truth like him who is blind? Only Ûli’l Elbâb (the owners of the divine secrets and the continuous remembrance) deliberates. (13/20) They fulfill (Ahdallâh) the Covenant of Allah (they submit their spirits, physical bodies, souls and free wills to Allah). And they do not break their (Mîsâq) Promise, (their promise concerning the fact that they will also submit their free wills to Allah along with their other submissions). (13/21) And they deliver to Him (their spirit) what Allah commands that it should be delivered to Allah (before death). And they have reverence for their Lord and fear the evil reckoning (going to Hell). (13/22) They are the ones who remain patient, seeking the Countenance of their Lord (to reach His Essence, and see Him), and keep up the prayer, and spend out of what We have given them as sustenance secretly and openly, and repel evil with good. As for those, there is a (good) end in this world. (13/23) (There are) Gardens of Eden which they will enter along with those who had reached the highest Improvement (Salâh) from among their parents and their spouses and their offspring. And the angels will enter in upon them from every gate. (13/24) Peace be upon you due to your patience. How excellent is the end of the worldly home. (13/25) And those who break (Ahdallâh) the Covenant of Allah, (who do not submit their spirits, physical bodies, souls and free wills to Allah in spite of their covenant) after their Promise (given to Allah in the pre-eternity concerning the fact that they should submit their spirits, physical bodies, souls and free wills to Allah). And sever that which Allah has ordered that they should deliver to Him (they do not deliver their spirits back to Allah). And make mischief in the earth (keeping other people from the Sıratı Mustakîm). As for these, there is a Curse, and for them an evil abode (Hell). (13/26) Allah amplifies and straitens the means of subsistence for whom He wills. They rejoice in the life of the world, whereas the life of this world is nothing compared with the Hereafter but a temporary enjoyment. (13/27) And those who disbelieve say: “Why has a Sign not been sent down upon him from his Lord?” Say: “Surely Allah leaves in Misguidance whom He wills, and guides to Himself (gives them Hidayet) those who turn to Him. (13/28) Those who believed (became âmenû, wished to reach Allah before death) and their hearts have been satisfied with the remembrance of Allah. Now surely with the remembrance of Allah the hearts find satisfaction, do they not? (13/29) How wonderful for those who believe (become âmenû, those who wish to reach Allah before death) and do improving deeds, the best of the Meab (refuge) is for them. (13/30) And thus We have sent you among a nation before which other nations have passed away in order that you might recite (read and explain) to them what We have revealed to you. They deny the most Beneficent. Say: “He is my Lord. There is no god but He. In Him I have put my trust and to Him is my repentance, my return (my return as the one whose repentance has been accepted)”. (13/31) And if there had been a Qur’ân with which the mountains are moved or the earth is torn asunder, or the dead are made to speak, all things (commands) belong to Allah. Have not yet those who believe (who are âmenû) despaired of their becoming believers? If Allah had willed, He would certainly have delivered all people to Hidayet (Guidance). Those who disbelieve do not cease to be struck by calamity (punishment), for what they have done or for it to descend near their home until there comes the promise of Allah. Certainly Allah does not turn away from His Promise. (13/32) And Messengers before you were certainly mocked at as well. But I gave time to those who disbelieved. Then I seized (destroyed) them. How then was My requital? (13/33) Then who maintains every soul as to what it has earned? And yet they gave associates to Allah! Say: “Name them (invite them with their names and see that they cannot respond)! Are you informing Him of what He does not know in the earth? Or an outward saying?” Rather, their plotting is made to appear fair-seeming to those who disbelieve, and they are driven away from the Way (of Allah). And whomever Allah leaves in Misguidance, there is then for him no person of Hidayet (Mahdi). (13/34) For them is a torment in the life of this world and certainly, even harder is the torment of the Hereafter. And there is for them no protector from (the torment of) Allah. (13/35) Heaven that is promised for the owners of piety (Al-Muttaqûn) is like the (garden) that rivers flow beneath it; its fruits and its shadow are perpetual. This is the end of those who have piety. Yet the end of the disbelievers is the Fire. (13/36) Those who are given the Book rejoice in what has been sent down to you. Tell the groups who deny a part of it: “I am only commanded that I should serve Allah and not associate anything with Him. To Him I invite and to Him is my return (refuge).” (13/37) And thus have We sent it down as a Judgment in Arabic. If you follow their low desires after what has come to you of knowledge, there is for you no protecting friend or defender from Allah. (13/38) And certainly We sent Messengers before you and made for them wives and offspring. It is not (possible) for a Messenger to bring a Verse except by Allah’s Leave. For every time-period, there is a Book. (13/39) Allah erases, demolishes what He wills and makes fixed (what He wills) and with Him is the Ummul Kitâb (the Mother of the Books). (13/40) Whether We show you part of what We have promised them or cause you to die, your duty is only to convey (the Message) and on Us is the Reckoning. (13/41) Do they not see how coming to the earth, we reduce of its sides (outlying borders)? And Allah judges, there is none to repel His Judgment. And he is Swift at reckoning. (13/42) Those before them did devise plots (as well). Yet all plotting is Allah’s. He knows what each soul earns, and the disbelievers shall soon know for who the end of this abode is. (13/43) And those who disbelieve say: “You have not been sent as a Messenger”. Say: “Sufficient as a Witness between me and you is Allah and those too who have the knowledge of the Book.”

Ibrahim
(14/1) Alif-Lâm-Râ. (This is) the Book which We have sent down to you that you may bring forth the mankind from utter darkness into the glorious light by their Lord’s Permission - to the Path of the All-Mighty, the Praiseworthy. (14/2) It is Allah; whose is whatever in the heavens and whatever in the earth. Woe to the disbelievers from a severe torment. (14/3) They prefer this world’s life to the life of the Hereafter and hinder (others) from the Way of Allah. And they seek to make it crooked; these are in a remote Misguidance. (14/4) And We did not send any Messenger but with the language of his people, so that he might explain to them clearly (by their own language). Therefore Allah leaves in Misguidance whom He wills (those who do not wish to reach Him) and He delivers whom He wills to Hidayet (Guidance) (those who wish to reach Him). And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (14/5) And certainly We sent Moses with Our Verses (proofs, miracles) (saying): “Bring forth your people from utter darkness into the glorious light and remind them of the days of Allah (have them remember the name of Allah during the days of Allah)”. Most surely there are Signs (proofs) in this for the patient, grateful ones. (14/6) And when Moses said to his people: “Remember Allah’s Blessing upon you! He delivered you from Pharaoh’s people, who were oppressing you with a severe torment, and were slaughtering your sons and letting your women alive. In this there is a great trial from your Lord.” (14/7) And then your Lord proclaimed that; “if you are grateful, We certainly give to you more (blessings), if you disbelieve My torment is truly severe”. (14/8) And Moses said: “If you and those on earth disbelieve all together, most surely Allah is Rich (Free of all needs and does not need your praise), Praised One”. (14/9) Has there not come to you the news of those who were before you, the people of Noah, Âd, and Thamoud and those who came after them? None knows them but Allah. Their Messengers came to them with the clear arguments (proofs), but they thrust their hands into their mouths (from anger) and said: “Surely we disbelieve in that with which you are sent, and most surely we are in serious doubt as to that to which you invite us.” (14/10) Their Messengers said: “Are you in doubt about Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth? He calls you that He may forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term.” They said: “You are nothing but mortals like us. You wish to turn us away from what our fathers used to worship; bring us therefore some clear miracle.” (14/11) Their Messengers said to them: “We are nothing but mortals like you, but Allah bestows His Blessings on whom He wills of His servants. It is not (possible) for us that we should bring you any authority (proof, miracle) except by Allah’s Permission. Now in Allah let the believers put their trust.” (14/12) Why should we not put our trust in Allah? He has indeed guided us to our ways. Certainly we will be patient to your persecution of us. In Allah let those who trust, put their trust. (14/13) Those who disbelieved said to their Messengers: “We will most certainly drive you forth from our land, or else you shall come back into our religion.” So their Lord revealed to them: “Most certainly We will destroy the wrongdoers.” (14/14) Most certainly We will settle you in the land after them. This is for him who fears My Authority and My threat (Promise). (14/15) (The Messengers) sought conquest and every obstinate tyrant lost. (14/16) Behind him is Hell and he is made to drink boiling, festering water. (14/17) He will try to sip it and (but) will not be able to swallow it easily. Death will come to him from every side, yet he cannot die (although he will beg to die). And there is a vehement torment behind him. (14/18) The likeness of those who disbelieve in their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a stormy day. They have no power over any thing but of what they have earned. Behold! This is the remote Misguidance! (14/19) Do you not see that Allah created the heavens and the earth with truth? If He wills, He can remove you and bring (create) a new creation (nation). (14/20) And this is not big (difficult) for Allah. (14/21) And they all came forth before Allah, and the weak said to those who were arrogant: “Surely we followed you. Can you now avert from us any part of the torment of Allah?” They said: “If Allah had delivered us to Hidayet (guided us), we too would have delivered you to Hidayet (guided you). It is the same to us whether we are patient or impatient. There is no place for us to escape.” (14/22) And Satan said when the command was fulfilled: “Surely Allah promised you His promise of truth, and I promised you as well. But I turned away from my promise. And I have no authority (power) over you. I only called you and you answered me, therefore do not blame me, but blame yourselves! And I am not your helper. You are not my helper either. Surely I denied your associating me (with Allah) earlier too. Verily, there is a painful torment for the wrong-doers.” (14/23) Those who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before death) and do improving deeds (ameliorate the souls’ hearts) are made to enter Heavens, under which the rivers flow. They abide in them forever by their Lord’s Permission. Their greeting therein is “Peace”. (14/24) Have you not seen how Allah set forth an example? A good word is like a good tree, whose essence (root) is firm and its branches are in the sky. (14/25) It yields its fruit at all times, by the Leave of its Lord. And Allah sets forth examples for mankind in order that they may deliberate. (14/26) And the case of a bad (evil) word is like a bad (evil, weak) tree uprooted from the surface of the earth, having no stability. (14/27) Allah keeps firm those who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before death) with the word that stands firm in this world and in the Hereafter. And Allah leaves the wrong-doers in Misguidance. Allah does what He wills. (14/28) Have you not seen those who have changed the Blessing of Allah for disbelief and made their people to the Land of Destruction? (14/29) Hell; which they lean against it. What an evil Abode they decided to settle in! (14/30) And they set up equals with Allah that they may lead (people) astray from His Way. Say: “Enjoy yourselves (live in wealth). Surely your return is to the Fire.” (14/31) Say to My servants who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before death) that they should keep up the prayer and spend out of what We have given them as sustenance secretly and openly before the coming of a Day on which there will be no exchange, nor any friendships. (14/32) Allah is He Who created the heavens and the earth and sent down water from the sky, then brought forth with it produce as a sustenance for you, and He has made the ships subservient to you, that they might run their course in the see by His Command, and He has made the rivers subservient to you. (14/33) And He has subjected to you the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses (with Allah’s Sunnetullah) and He has made subservient to you the night and the day. (14/34) And He gave you of all that you ask Him. And if you count the Blessings of Allah, you will not be able to number them. Most surely man is very unjust, very ungrateful. (14/35) Abraham had said: “My Lord! Make this city secure. Keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.” (14/36) My lord! Surely they (idols) have caused many people to fall into Misguidance. Then whoever depends on me, he is surely of me, and whoever disobeys me, then You are indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (14/37) Our Lord! I have settled a part of my offspring in an uncultivable valley by Your Sacred House. Our Lord! May they keep up the prayer. Make the hearts of some people incline towards them and provide them with crops; so that they may be grateful. (14/38) Our Lord! Surely You know all that we hide and all that we reveal. Nothing in the earth nor any thing in the heaven is hidden from Allah. (14/39) All praise be to Allah, Who has given me in old age Ishmael and Isaac. Most surely my Lord is All-Hearing of the call. (14/40) My Lord! Make me and my offspring amongst the ones who keep up the prayer. Our Lord! Accept my prayer. (14/41) Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents and the believers on the Day when the Reckoning will be established. (14/42) And do not assume that Allah is Unaware of what the wrong-doers do. He only respites them for a Day on which the eyes will stare in terror. (14/43) Those who run forward with their heads upraised (staring at the skies)! Their glances cannot revert to them. And their hearts are full of the vices (of the soul). (14/44) Warn the people of a day of torment that shall come to them. Then those who were unjust will say: “Our Lord! Respite us to a near term, so we shall respond to Your Call and depend on the Messengers.” Had you not sworn, before, that for you there would be no cessation? (14/45) And you dwelt in the abodes of those who wronged themselves, and it was explained to you what We did to them. And We put forth examples for you. (14/46) They had indeed plotted the plot. And their plot is with Allah, even if their plot is strong enough to make the mountains disappear. (14/47) Therefore do not think that Allah will fail in His Promise to His Messengers. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, the Owner of Retribution. (14/48) On that Day the earth and the heavens will be replaced to another state. And they shall be before Allah, the One, the Conqueror. (14/49) And you will see the guilty ones on the Day of Permission linked together in chains. (14/50) Their shirts are made of tar and the Fire covering their faces. (14/51) That (punishment is for) Allah may requite each soul (according to) what it has earned. Surely Allah is Swift at Reckoning. (14/52) This (Quran) is an explanation for mankind and that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is One God and that the ûli’l elbâb (those who possesses the divine secrets) may deliberate.
